Cleaning

Good oral health does not just mean you have pretty teeth. Your whole mouth needs care to be in good health. The word “oral” refers to the mouth, which includes your teeth, gums, jawbone, and supporting tissues. Taking good care of your oral health can prevent disease in your mouth. Oral health can also affect the health of your body. It is easy to take your oral health for granted. But good oral health is key to your overall health.

The health of your mouth, can be a sign of your body’s health. Mouth problems are not just cavities, toothaches, and crooked or stained teeth. These can be gum diseases, cold sores, canker sores, thrush - called oral candidiasis, dry mouth, called xerostomia, bad breath - called halitosis, oral cancer, etc.

On your regular scheduled dental cleaning, a thorough checkup for these type of diseases will be performed together with professional teeth cleaning and polishing.

In our dental office, we use modern technologies, such as ultrasonic scaling and intra-oral cameras, to maximize the efficiency
of your treatment and minimize the impact of mechanical devices on your oral health.

Scaling is used to remove plaque, calculus and stains from the tooth surfaces helping you maintain your gums healthy and strong. This procedure uses a device that is called the ultrasonic scaler, which sends ultrasonic vibrations towards the surface
of your teeth, dislocating deposits that otherwise would require a more intrusive mechanical removal. It is a procedure,
widely used in dental offices, and has proven it’s efficiency over the years, as one of the best professional cleaning systems.

Intra-oral cameras, can be used to clearly display areas from your mouth, that are not visible to you in a bathroom mirror scenario. Also other diseases can be more easily be discovered and tracked, by keeping a record of these images in your patient file.
